The most recent owners, Buz and Kathie Fanning, sought new owners of the 62-year-old store in order to pursue missionary work in Mexico, the Adamses said. Another couple that previously owned the store and still owns the building, Ray and Leotus Seybold, remain active with the store. The store’s four existing employees will remain. The store sells gifts, cards, music, books and Bibles.

The Adamses are members of the Wild West Cowboy Church at 1025 S. Prairie Ave., where Don Adams is a deacon and Heather Adams writes the church newsletter and manages its website. Don Adams, who is an active duty member of the U.S. Army Reserves, said he heard of the possible sale and began inquiring about the business. An agreement was struck within about two months, he said. While much of the store remains unchanged, a few additions have been put in place, including the creation of a “Comfort Zone” study area featuring free Internet access, the couple said. A new website at features online shopping. The store plans an open house celebration and sale Friday and next Saturday with the current and previous owners scheduled to attend.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The telephone number is 542-3672.
